What's in a Name?
“Who’s coming home with me?” I asked as if expecting an answer.
Kittens scattered left and right, save one. Chocolate ears and nose tilted to the left; crossed blue eyes connected with mine. Instantly I knew the companion I so longed for was right before me. He was the most beautiful Siamese I’d ever seen.
On the drive home, we discussed his name. I guess it was more of a one-sided conversation, but he understood every word. NPR drifted a Bach piece as I talked. Names flew from my lips with no response from my newly found friend. Nothing seemed to do. It, then, dawned on me…Sebastian.
“Sebastian?” I quizzed. “You wanna be named after Bach?” A sweet little meow squeaked from the carrier next to me. “Sebastian it is then,” I told him.
His name proved true. Through the years I spent with him, with the ups and downs of life thrown upon me, he was truly the music of my life.
